Sarah Ellington, a rising senior in the Department of Food Science and Technology at Virginia Tech, received the CVDPA scholarship at the annual awards banquet on April 30, 2009. Sarah, a resident of Indian Springs, Alabana, entered Virginia Tech in 2006 and expects to receive her B.S. in Food Science and Technology in May 2010. She has been on the Dean's List for two semesters and has been the recipient of several scholarships. In the summer of 2008 she interned in the Quality Control Department of Smithfield Foods Inc., and gained experience with SQF implementation, HACCP and SSOP. Sarah is an active member of the VT Food Science Club, the Alpha Zeta National Honor Agriculture Fraternity, and is a member of the Institute of Food Technologists student chapter.
